GRATITUDE EDITION
Welcome back! According to Harvard Medical School, expressing gratitude is consistently associated with greater happiness. Thankfulness helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
I’m grateful to B. Here, writing to you today. Please know that even if you don’t live in North Carolina or plan on moving here (yet), you can still count on me to find you another realtor anywhere in the world. I will take the time to find someone who is an expert on the area and matches your taste. For your next dream come true, I would be very grateful if you think of B!

Here’s a fun way to express gratitude: share the love! Tell me your favorite things to do in the surrounding Highlands, Cashiers, Sapphire, Glenville & Lake Toxaway areas in my quick questionnaire below. I will publish all nominations for the community to see and you’ll be entered to win a shopping spree (three random winners; $250, $100 or $50 respectively) to your favorite business on the plateau.
You can skip any category if you don’t have a favorite, so entering to win could take five minutes or just five seconds!

Actions speak louder than words. Harvard Medical School lists ways to express gratitude such as sending a thank-you letter, keeping a gratitude journal to count your blessings, praying or meditating. I would add another one — volunteering!
By serving on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau, I am showing appreciation for their mission to, "Enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens." The more we reap, the more we sow!

My #1
For our featured Guest this season, I’ve invited the person that I am most grateful for — my mother, Joyce Ann Becker, 82 years young, 4 daughters (Priscilla, Bambi, Tawney & Tiffany), 2 sons (Michael & Brandon), 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and over 40 years & counting as a Real Estate Agent. If you’re lucky, I’ll refer you to her!
B: What comes to your mind when you think of gratefulness?
J: My children and having an extraordinary, exceptional family.
B: Are you surprised that I followed in your footsteps as a realtor?
J: I am not surprised as you have always been in a profession of nurturing and real estate is hand holding.
B: Do you have any advice for future home buyers & sellers?
J: For buyers and sellers, this is definitely the time to make a move if you are thinking of doing either. Interest rates are at an all-time low and inventory is at an all-time low. Remember that the one who hesitates loses! But, most importantly remember the “Power of Positive Thinking" as written by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.

Gratitude sounds like:
I always ask my guests to choose a song as well, inspired by the theme. My mother chose What a Wonderful World by Rod Stewart because it reminds her of, “How fortunate I am to be living so many years in a beautiful place and having had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people.” Amen!
